We will not list all restaurants in Hyde Park. Explore and you will find something you really love. Below are those restaurants that have acquired an "institution" status, so to speak.
Medici on 57th: Bakery, coffee, deli, and restaurant with general fare
Noodles Etc: Pan-Asian eatery that specializes in, you guessed it, noodles
Salonica: Greek-American comfort ood
The Snail: Thai food
Valois: Neighborhood grill, big on breakfast
Rajun Cajun: Indian/Soul food
Harold's Chicken: Fried chicken
There are a handful of grocery stores around the Hyde Park/Woodlawn area:
Jewel Osco: 60th and Cottage Grove. This is the standard Chicago grocery store chain. Still, this location a big deal and we should applaud the hard work community organizers put into getting this location. Much of the South Side is a food desert and the opening of this branch of Jewel Osco has made a huge difference in many people's lives.
Hyde Park Produce: 53rd and Kimbark. A great spot to get high quality produce at good prices
Whole Foods: East Hyde Park Blvd and Lark Park Abe. Hyde Park's branch of Whole Foods.
Trader Joes (Coming Soon): 55th and Lake Park. At the former location of Treasure Island Foods
