Course Reserves

What are Course Reserves?

Your instructors may require materials for your course that will be in high demand. These are normally placed "on reserve"  for a specific course. Articles, book chapters, or essays on reserve are available electronically (E-Reserve).

Finding Course Reserves For Your Class on Canvas

  1. Log into Canvas, select Courses, and select the appropriate course.
  2. Select Library Reserves from the menu on the left. This will open a page listing all of the library course reserves that your instructor has selected for the term.
  3. Course reserves can be accessed online directly from this page. To access these e-reserves, click View Item to open the PDF or a link to the PDF.

Is My Textbook at the Library?

If you would like to see if the Library has the textbook for your course, check the Library Catalog to see if a copy is available online or for checkout from the Library (if you are on campus).

Tips about textbooks:

  • The Library does not buy textbooks for all University courses.
  • Search the Library Catalog by title and author, not just ISBN number. This will help you identify other editions of the book.
  • You can also place an interlibrary loan for a book that you need. Please note that some textbooks are not available via this service.
  • If your book is not available, speak to your instructor about placing the item e-reserve at the Library.
