Remote Access for Medical Center Employees

How do I access Library resources outside of the Medical Center?

Visit the Library's How do I access Library resources from off-campus? page for complete instructions.

How do I access the full text of an article found in PubMed while at home?

  1. Open the UChicago-specific version of PubMed.
  2. Authenticate with your CNetID or UCMED ID*.
  3. Search PubMed.
  4. Click on the  Find it button icon in the upper right of the Abstract view; a new window or tab will open.
  5. Click on the link in the upper left box labeled "Find It Online." A new tab or window opens to the article.
    * If you do not know your UCMED ID, contact the UCM IT Service Desk at 2-3456.

Problems?

If you are unable to open a specific e-journal or database to which the Library subscribes (i.e. listed in the Catalog, E-Journals, or the Database Finder), please email the Library.

Who is eligible to access e-resources?

Due to licensing agreements, remote access to electronic library resources is restricted to current faculty, students, and staff of the University of Chicago; UCM residents and fellows; and full-time Medical Center employees with a CNetID, a UCMED ID and on the Hyde Park campus, or a UCMED ID and an academic appointment at any other location. More information on CNetID eligibility is on the IT Services CNetID Account Management Practices page.
