Creating a Special Collections Account and Requesting Materials

How to Request Items That Do Not Have Online Records

Manual Requests are used for items that do not have online records. If you are onsite and looking for an item or collection that does not have an online record ask the desk staff. If an inventory is available they will provide it to you. Please note that if you are off-site and interested in requesting items without an online record, you may need contact SCRC staff to request an inventory.

Use these directions to request materials without online records after you have created a circulation request account.

1. From your account page, find the heading in your left-hand menu entitled “Make a Request for Items Not Found Online.” Choose the appropriate format for your request.

2. Enter the complete title of the collection. If you are working with an unprocessed archival collection please enter the Accession Number from the inventory. Enter the box number – you MUST enter only ONE BOX per screen/request. Each box needs its own request.

3. When you submit your request, you will see a message across the top of the screen that tells you the transaction number for that request and that it will be available within 30 minutes, unless you have specified a later use date.
