Researching Legal Employers

What does legal analytics mean?

"Analytics" refers to information resulting from the systematic analysis of data or statistics. "Legal analytics" refers to empirically-based information that attorneys can use to help make more informed decisions, from developing a litigation strategy based on historical outcomes of cases with similar fact patterns to planning and executing a negotiating strategy for transactions based on contractual terms for similar deals. Legal analytics are largely derived from already available data in the form of case law and transaction documents.

Legal analytics tools can also be used for researching legal employers, since they can provide information on the sorts of work firms do, the kinds of cases a judge hears, and so on.
