Gateway to Korean Studies Resources

For library users looking for resources in Korean Studies

Use this guide to get to know the Korean Studies collection at the University of Chicago Library and to begin your research. Spend a little time exploring the tabs at the top of the left side bar on the front page. Also, be sure to check out the Korean Romanization table as well as its tutorial ppt. Links throughout this guide will lead you to the exact library catalog or full text e-resources.

1. Korean Romanization

The Romanization of Korean is a system for representing the Korean Language (Han'gŭl) using Latin script. Although Korean language materials at the University of Chicago can be searched using either original Korean scripts or the McCune-Reischauer Romanization system, users will have better search results when searching with Korean Romanization. Click for more information about M-R Romanization.
