Reference & Research Services

Librarian Research Support: Research requests can be directed to the librarians through FacultyWeb.  Library staff can help with a wide variety of substantive research tasks, including:

  • legal and non-legal academic research
  • locating and compiling legislative histories
  • finding business, company, and financial information
  • researching court dockets and litigation documents
  • performing literature reviews
  • resource and database recommendations
  • creating custom bibliographies
  • research strategy consultation (e.g. complex terms and connectors searches, efficient search strategies)
  • document delivery

Law School Library Fellowship Program: The D'Angelo Law Library has a fellowship program for law school students who have a demonstrated interest in learning more advanced research skills. These fellows are hired on a quarterly basis, and in addition to supporting the D'Angelo reference department, they are available to work with Law faculty on short projects (10 - 20 hours). Research Assistants Support

Research Support for Student Research Assistants: For longer-term projects, Law faculty may engage research assistants through Sadaf Syed, Academic Affairs Manager. The Law Library offers consultations, advice, and assistance to research assistants working for Law faculty. If you have a group of research assistants, reference librarians can provide research presentations related to your project. Please refer your RAs to Scott Vanderlin as they begin their projects so that we can assist them to be as productive as possible. 

Proxy Borrowing: Faculty with annual borrowing privileges may designate another person as a proxy borrower. This person is able to borrow and recall books on behalf of the faculty member, with the same loan periods and privileges that the faculty member would have in person. All material charged on the proxy borrower's card is the responsibility of the faculty member. To request a proxy borrower account, complete this application formIf you have further questions concerning Proxy Borrower Privileges, please contact the ID & Privileges Office.

RA CarrelsThe Library has a limited number of assigned carrels on the fourth and fifth floors for use by research assistants and other students. Most Library materials may be charged to in the D'Angelo Law Library carrels  If your RA would like to use a carrel, please have the RA complete the online application form.
