General Guidelines

The Library provides access to electronic resources for academic research and many of our business databases expressly forbid commercial use. Students who are returning in the fall will have full access to Library resources, but should take care in how they use them if they are in internships. It is okay to consult a Library resources, but content can not be shared directly. We provide these guidelines, which also apply to for-credit courses working with commercial clients.

Acceptable Use Unacceptable Use

Submit reports as part of your internship that include minimal excerpts or summaries of content from Library databases. Remember to cite your sources!

Share what you learned and where you found it, not the content you found.

Providing content from Library resources to your employer. Examples include
  • Full reports
  • Lists of companies generated in a database
  • Exports of search results

Companies should provide access to resources required for your work during your internship.

What about WRDS?

Masters level WRDS accounts are not allowed use during the summer unless you are taking a class. This applies College students as well.
