    Kennedy and Nixon

    1960 televised Kennedy Nixon debate. 

    Kennedy and Nixon during one of the 1960 presidential campaign debates.  The first televised debate in American history took place on Sept 26 in Chicago.  The full transcript of the debate can be found at the American Presidency Project, which is maintained by UC Santa Barbara.  The APP contains a wide range of presidential materials, including speeches, executive orders and proclamations, and veto messages.
