Library Services for Law Faculty

Information about D'Angelo Law Library services for Law faculty.

Finding Books

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan is available for books and articles in journals not held by the University of Chicago Library. Use FacultyWeb to request materials; Library staff will identify holding libraries and initiate and track requests for you.

Circulation

Borrowing

  • Full-time faculty are able to borrow University of Chicago Library materials on an annual basis, unless recalled. Fellows, Lecturers in Law, and Visiting Faculty can borrow materials on a quarterly basis. Items eligible for renewal are automatically renewed prior to the due date.
  • To browse and renew currently checked-out items, verify items being held, view fines and blocks in place, or change your account information, visit the Library Catalog, login using your CNET ID and password and go to My Library Account.
  • All items that we deliver to your office are already checked out to your Library account by D'Angelo staff.
  • If you have any questions or item requests, please let us know through FacultyWeb. You can also talk with reference librarians and library staff live using our Ask a Law Librarian chat. Librarians and library staff are also available via email and telephone.
  • In addition to requesting items through FacultyWeb, you can also check out items at the Circulation Desk on the second floor.
  • If you take a book off the shelf to your office, please let us know through FacultyWeb.

Returning

  • Place books on the floor outside your office for daily pickup.
  • Please return interlibrary loan items and recalled books to the Circulation Desk.
  • To arrange a special pickup (e.g. bulky items or a large number of books), contact Connie Fleischer.

Interlibrary Loan

  • Law Faculty can request items not owned by UChicago Library by submitting a request through FacultyWeb. Loan periods are generally 12 weeks; items arrive in 4-5 days.
  • The Library is a member of two consortia - Borrow Direct and UBorrow - that allow users to search for and request books directly from Ivy League and Big 10 university libraries, respectively.
  • More information about the Library's interlibrary loan services can be found on the D'Angelo Law Library website.
  • Interlibrary loan renewals must be requested before the item becomes overdue.

Law Reserve Room

  • The Reserve Room is locked when the Circulation Desk is closed, but your office key will open the door.
  • If you remove items from the Reserve Room and are not able to check them out, please let us know through FacultyWeb.
