What is Digital Scholarship?
Digital Scholarship is a discipline that encompasses a whole host of activities including but not limited to digital publishing, text data mining, mapping, digital exhibitions and collections, programming, and visualization. The term is often used in connection with Digital Humanities, a field focused on bringing digital tools to humanistic inquiry. Digital Scholarship, however, is viewed as a broader subject that is discipline-agnostic.
Digital Scholarship can also refer to the study of digital topics. These topics can range from social media and participatory culture to disinformation and data sovereignty.

Debates in the Digital Humanities brings together leading figures in the field to explore its theories, methods, and practices and to clarify its multiple possibilities and tensions. From defining what a digital humanist is and determining whether the field has (or needs) theoretical grounding, to discussions of coding as scholarship and trends in data-driven research, this cutting-edge volume delineates the current state of the digital humanities and envisions potential futures and challenges.
