Using This Guide to Craft Your Prospectus

The resources in this guide can help you develop your research question and craft your research prospectus.

  1. To begin, choose your topic. What do you want to research and why?
  2. Conduct preliminary/exploratory research using reference sources and familiarize yourself with current debates, recent advances, and disciplinary work that has been done on your topic.
  3. Narrow your research question by examining the who/what/where/when of your topic of interest.
  4. Use academic books, academic journals, and research guides to find additional sources that will build your understanding of your research topic and provide evidence for your line of inquiry.
  5. If you need support at any stage, don't hesitate to reach out for help!
