Off-Campus Access to Databases

Almost all of our online resources are available from off-campus using IT Services proxy server. Use links on Library web pages to be directed through the proxy. You will be asked to login using your CNetID and password.

Many of our article sources can be found through general web searches.
Use the ProxyIt bookmarklet from IT Services to get access to these resources through the proxy server

Google Scholar can be configured to use our FindIt! service, which will route you to online access through the Library.  Our Google Scholar guide has information on how to set this up.

Some resources may require the use of Virtual Private Network Software (VPN). Many corporate networks will not allow the use of such software; contact your company's IT support if you are having problems. Booth IT Services has more information on the VPN on the Booth Intranet

Scan and Deliver

Scan & Deliver provides photocopies from books and journals in the general collections of the University of Chicago Library. The service is available exclusively to current University of Chicago faculty, students, and staff.

Full details, including directions on submitting requests, are on our Scan & Deliver Guide

Reciprocal Borrowing and Access

The Library has a reciprocal access agreement with the Northwestern University Library. Students have access to the collections at libraries on the Evanston campus and the downtown campus and can borrow books. This includes the Schaffner Library downtown, which serves the Kellogg School's part-time programs, but it does not include remote access to Northwestern databases.
