This guide highlights Library resources helpful for undergraduates enrolled in the one-quarter intensive writing seminar, Inquiry, Conversation, Argument (ICA).

Ask a Librarian

Helpful LibrarianUse Ask a Librarian if you have any questions about the Library!

From quick questions to getting started with your research, virtual help is available via email, live chat (staffed by people, not bots!), or text message.

Or schedule an appointment with our Teaching and Academic Engagement librarians. They can help with a wide variety of research questions:

  • Finding books or articles needed for courses
  • Locating academic sources on a topic
  • Evaluating sources for quality and authority
  • Strategies for locating primary sources
  • Learning when and how to cite
  • Developing effective research skills and strategies

Subject Librarians

Librarians specialize in a major, discipline, region, or function, and can help you find scholarly sources or locate primary source collections, build a search strategy, understand research methodologies, and more! Schedule a consultation with a subject librarian for assistance with discipline-specific research. Prepare for your meeting with a librarian by:

  • Providing a summary of your research project to the Librarian so they can adequately prepare for your meeting

  • Mentioning whether you have met with another Librarian (avoid duplicated work) and, if you have, what you covered

  • Prepare some questions in advance (all questions are valid questions)

Student Assistants

Student Assistants are available to help at Regenstein Library's circulation desk on the 1st floor Monday-Friday 5–7pm and Saturday and Sundays from 1–5pm. They can help you locate specific books and articles, help you find a book on the shelf, or connect you to the best librarian for your research.
