TIPS FOR SEARCHING FOR ARTICLES IN GERMAN

• Most article databases allow you to limit by language. Often you'll need to go to an advanced search to find this option.
• You can still use English terms to search. Here's an example: "ottoman empire" and "jews" limited to German.
• If you are using German terms in your search, note:
  • don't use "ue" for "ü", "ae" for "ä", "oe" for "ö".  "ueber" will not necessarily bring up results with "über". Instead, use "uber" or "über"
  • Use "ss" for "ß"
