Introduction

Many World Bank (WB) publications and datasets are available from their web site for free.  The University of Chicago Library also has a large collection of historical print publications and datasets going back to the 1940s.  You may search our Library Catalog or Ask A Librarian if you have any questions or need assistance.

    This functions as a home page for WB data. You may search by:
    - Countries and Economies
    - Topic
    - Indicators (download access to over 2,000 indicators from WB data sets)
    - Microdata
  • World DataBank
    An analysis and visualisation tool that contains collections of time series data on a variety of topics. You can create your own queries; generate tables, charts, and maps; and easily save, embed, and share them.

  • World Development Indicators (WDI)
    - WDI Home Page
    - WDI Tables
    The primary WB collection of development indicators, compiled from officially-recognized international sources. Includes national, regional and global estimates.
  • Data Catalog
    A listing of available WB datasets, including databases, pre-formatted tables, reports, and other resources.
  • Open Knowledge Repository
    The World Bank’s official open access repository for its research outputs and knowledge products.
  • Mapping for Results
    Visualize the locations of Bank-financed projects and international aid programs at the sub-national level. The tool overlays country maps with poverty and Millennium Development Goals data, such as infant mortality rates, with the geographic locations of donor-funded projects.
  • Microdata Library  
      
    Access to data may require registration and an application form. Also, files may be in SPSS, STATA or SAS.

    Use Google's Public Data interface to explore WB data.
