How do I find journals?

A guide to how to find journals for your research.

Identifying Journals Owned by Other Libraries

While the University of Chicago Library subscribes to many periodicals (journals, newspapers, and magazines), it may not have every publication that you may need for your research. You may need to borrow the item from another library.

Tips for Finding Journals at Other Libraries

  • Use traditional interlibrary loan services. You cannot borrow journals using UBorrow or Borrow Direct services.
  • Some libraries will not loan issues of journals. In these cases, you will need a citation to request a scan of the article via interlibrary loan.
  • Use WorldCat to identify where publications are held and what years are available.
