The Library Catalog's results screen will indicate if an item is available for request from Mansueto. To place the request you must open the full item record by clicking on the title of the item.
Once in the full record, go to the "Holdings" section, select the option to "Request from Mansueto Library".
Once you click on the link, you will be prompted to log into the Catalog with your CNetID and password. Affiliated users will use your Library barcode and PIN (what's this?). The Catalog will remember you for the rest of your session until you log out of your account.
Visitors to the University of Chicago Library who do not have borrowing privileges and would like to consult material in Mansueto should ask for assistance at the Mansueto Circulation desk.
Once you are logged in, you will be directed to the Storage Request screen, where your item will be displayed.
From here, you can continue to place your request, or conduct another search and add additional Mansueto items to retrieve. You may add up to 25 items to your Storage Request list. You view these by going to My Account and selecting Storage Request.
If you wish to remove any items from your list before placing your request, mark the items and click on the "Remove Selected Items" button.
Once you've finalized the list of items you want to request, you must designate a pickup location. Choose one of four locations from the drop-down list under "Select Pickup Location".
You can select to have the items available for you in Mansueto within 15 minutes of your request (during Mansueto's open hours) or to have the items delivered to another pickup location (Crerar, D'Angelo Law, or SSA) in one business day (excluding weekends and holidays). Items will be held at the circulation desk.
Once you've chosen a pickup location, you can finalize your request by clicking on the "Request all items" button. You will then see a confirmation screen that the request is being processed.
When an item is placed on hold at your requested pickup location, you will receive an email notifying you that it is available for pickup. Once the item has been placed on hold at the requested pickup location, it will be held for you for 7 days.
Email notices are sent hourly, so most Mansueto requests will be available for pickup significantly before the email notice is sent.
To check on the status of your Mansueto requests, log into My Account and select Holds and Recalls. The Catalog will indicate if the item is available for pickup and note when the hold expires.
