Library Services for Law Faculty

Information about D'Angelo Law Library services for Law faculty.

Canvas Learning Management System Support

Overview: Canvas is the University of Chicago's learning management system platform. The Library can supply links to articles, cases, or other readings from databases licensed by the Library.

Training: Training is available for Canvas through the main Library (see the Academic Technologies Calendar for dates and times) and by D'Angelo reference staff.

Copyright: D'Angelo recommends using links to licensed databases instead of posting PDF files when possible. Please request links through FacultyWeb. We can also review your syllabus for copyright issues and provide advice on obtaining copyright permissions when appropriate.

Course Reserves

The D'Angelo Law Library purchases at least one copy of all the optional and required textbooks for courses taught at the Law School. This collection of coursebooks is called the course reserves collection.

Textbook orders (outside of course reserves) are handled by the Registrar's Office; assistance with course reserves and Canvas course webpages is handled by D'Angelo.  You will receive a Teaching Preferences form from the Registrar's Office asking you whether you wish to place items on reserve, and preferences for posting of old exams on the Exams webpage (see below).

For questions about reserves, contact Ariel Scotese, Associate Director for User Services.

Research Guides and Presentations

Research Guides: D'Angelo staff will create course-specific research guides on request. For example, see the Comparative Criminal Procedure guide.

Research Presentations: Reference librarians are available for research presentations in class and to consult with your students regarding research or library resources. Contact Scott Vanderlin to arrange research presentations or discuss custom library instruction.

Exams Webpage

Unless you advise us otherwise, your past exams will be posted on the D'Angelo Law Library Exams webpage, along with the top 2 or 3 student answers and any faculty memos you submit to us through the Registrar's Office. Please check your course's exam postings for accuracy at the beginning of each quarter.
