Library Services for Law Faculty

Information about D'Angelo Law Library services for Law faculty.

Course Materials

The Library supports adjunct faculty's teaching and course material needs. Please direct any questions related to the D’Angelo Law Library, its collections (including course materials) or services to Faculty Web. If we are unable to answer your question, we can help direct you to someone who can. You may also contact Ariel Scotese, Associate Director for User Services, or Connie Fleischer, Research Services Librarian, directly.

You will receive an email from the Law School before the beginning of the quarter to answer questions about teaching and course support needs.

There are three main methods for delivering course materials to students.

  • Course Textbooks: Send your textbook information to the Law School Registrar as far in advance as possible to ensure that the bookstore will have sufficient copies. The D'Angelo Law Library will purchase a copy of the required and optional text for each class offered at the Law School to add to the course reserve collection.
  • Canvas: Use the Canvas learning management system (see courses.uchicago.edu) to disseminate electronic course materials to students.
    • The Library can supply links to licensed databases for articles, cases, or other readings. Send a copy of your syllabus to Connie Fleischer to request links and/or advice about copyright issues.
  • Course Packet: Your faculty secretary can scan your selected readings and deliver them to the Law School Copy Center. Students purchase packets directly from the Copy Center. Your faculty assistant can also work with D'Angelo Law Library staff to request copyright permissions if necessary.
  • Further Information: See the Canvas/Teaching Resources tab in this guide for more information.

Establishing Your Library Account

You can access your Library Account using your CNet ID and password. Your CNetID is a username that you select and will use to access most online services at the University of Chicago. If you don't know your CNet credentials (or need to change your password, etc.), visit University IT's CNet page, select the appropriate service, and complete the web forms.

As soon as you have a CNet ID, please go to the ID & Privileges Office in the Regenstein Library to obtain your Chicago card. You can set up your Library account then, or stop by the Reference Desk to get your library account set up.

If you arrive before you can claim your CNet ID, contact Ariel Scotese, Associate Director for User Services, or Connie Fleischer, Research Services Librarian, for assistance.

Lexis+/Westlaw/Bloomberg Law Passwords

The Library will provide you with Lexis+, Westlaw and Bloomberg Law passwords upon request.  For work relating to your teaching, it is appropriate to use these passwords rather than your home institution's or law firm's. For assistance, contact Scott Vanderlin.
