What is a Class Librarian?
The Class Librarians program is designed to help College students navigate the enormous range of resources and services available at the University of Chicago Library. Each Class Librarian serves students in a specific class of the College, from the summer before Orientation until Convocation--and beyond!
What does a Class Librarian do?
- Keeps you up to date on Library news via e-mail messages and our blog.
- Provides information about Library policies and procedures.
- Answers your questions (big or small) about the Library, its collections, or services. If we can't answer your question, we'll connect you to someone who can!
- Meets with you about a specific research project, suggesting resources and providing advice on research strategies and techniques.
- Helps you organize your research and create citations/bibliographies using RefWorks or Zotero.
Who exactly are the Class Librarians?
The Class Librarians are U of C librarians dedicated to helping undergraduates be successful researchers. While we hold different positions at the Library, all of us work frequently with College students and faculty. Think of us as your library advisor--someone you can get to know personally during your college years.
