Google Scholar searches scholarly literature from web pages, publisher web sites, professional societies and some article databases. To access the full-text of journal articles found using Google Scholar, set your preferences to add FindIt! at UChicago links.
To set your preferences manually:
You can quickly get access to articles that are available through the Library by installing the Google Scholar Button in Google Chrome. This addon adds a button to Chrome. Highlight an article title, click the button, and you are connected to the Library's FindIt service.
Google will display links to JSTOR and publishers' web sites. These will not include our proxy server information, so if you are off-campus you will not automatically get access. We recommend using the ProxyIt Bookmarklet or the LibX extension to your browser. These tools will add the proxy server information for you with one click.
The Library may not always subscribe to journals that have links displayed through the Scholar Button. Use the "Find It! @ UChicago" link to determine whether an article is available through Library sources.
The ProxyIt! bookmarklet will reload a page to use IT Services proxy server. Install this button in your browser to get access to Library resources from off campus.
For more information, see the Proxy page.
